Buster Design, the motion graphics and animation division of marketing and production agency Stun Creative, produced the show open for the MTV reality series starring superstar rapper T.I. The show open for T.I.’s Road to Redemption is set to T.I.’s song “No Matter What.” Buster’s client for this project was Ish Entertainment and ATL Productions and producer Billy Taylor.
Along with Rihanna, rapper T.I. currently has the #1 single in the country, the song “Live Your Life.” T.I.’s Road to Redemption will premiere on MTV in March, the same month in which the rap star will appear in court to be sentenced to a one-year jail term for illegal gun possession. The series will chronicle T.I.’s everyday life—post-ankle bracelet and pre-prison.
The rapper recently told Entertainment Weekly, "The show basically will document the road of redemption that I’ll be traveling the next few months. I think it will be a great way for people to get to know me as a person, not just someone you read about and see on TV. It will show that I’m someone who made a mistake, but I’m in no way going to let that define me or my future. I’m going to accept responsibility and stand up and move forward." The show will include T.I.'s release from house arrest in late 2008 and will conclude upon his return to jail in March or April 2009.
Buster executive creative director Jonas Morganstein adds, “Our show open for T.I.’s MTV series needed to reflect some of the bad choices that he has made in his life, how he’s facing the consequences of those choices, and how he is re-evaluating his life during his last days of freedom. Our piece follows him both visually and spiritually along his path to jail, as he realizes the time is now to change his way of life, and to give back to society through his community service—changing the lives of seven adolescent boys on the verge of making some of the same bad choices that T.I. has made. The show open delivers the emotional intensity of this huge star’s past, set against his own gripping music, while his days are literally numbered—through our use of an animated ‘countdown’— until he has to re-enter jail, giving up one full year of his life.”
