Hands On with Sony's New '3D' Cameras
July 12, 2010

Sony on Thursday unleashed three new compact pocket-sized cameras; two of which feature clever, in-camera software that can produce D-SLR imagery effects and a simple way of creating "3D" images, despite not being 3D cameras.

For their last trick, these cameras - the Sony Cyber-shot TX9 and the Sony Cyber-shot WX5 - will also create a 3D image viewing experience without 3D glasses or 3D display.

Though the various image enhancements produce results that look completely different, all of these software-driven effects inspect and merge multiple images within a matter of seconds.
